Ajuga reptans Chocolate Chip

Ajuga reptans Chocolate Chip

Ajuga reptans ‘Chocolate Chip’ is a compact, mat-forming, semi-evergreen groundcover valued for its small, glossy, chocolate-bronze leaves and short spikes of deep blue flowers in late spring to early summer. Ideal for underplanting and edging in Irish gardens, it thrives in moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil and grows well in sun or light shade. The nectar-rich blooms are excellent for bees and other pollinators, while the dense habit helps to suppress weeds and knit together the front of borders and path edges.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
